Affinities and Identities

While trying to come up with something to say in my profile for this
blog, I began thinking about identity. A profile is one thing, a
portrait is another, and the whole person of course transcends them
all.

This internet we're on serves as much as anything as a screen, a
distancer, and creates the illusion of anonymity. True anonymity is a
precious right, and therefore a right which is under attack. And of
course anonymity is not available on the internet.

Some affinities I'd like to persue on this blog and elsewhere, on the
way to a "profile"L
cocktails
goldfinches
permaculture
Slow Food
domestic food production
tropical foods, especially chocolate
primates, including Nina, matriarch of the gorilla clan in Woodland
Park Zoo
herbalism
Ayurveda

Gregory dear, you know that I can talk all day (just tell me to zip if I get tiresome) about nearly all of the subject you list. I'm afraid I don't know a thing about Nina in Woodland Park Zoo, and scant little about goldfinches. All else, you're on!
